I think that a way to achieve an acceptable solution to most people without
creating a UNIX version of the dll hell from Windows (which is in essence
this very same problem plus a few more due to lack of access controlls on
Win9x) would be to compile a statically linked version of Mozilla (Netscape
has always been done that way since it used Motif). This means however that
the binary will be huge. But you have to live with that, or you have to
compile software on the box that you plan to run it on. On UNIX, it is not
simply download and click to run it, because we cannot count on the APIs
and ABIs not changing for say three years like between win95 and 98.

Your solution would be a very partial one and would not solve anything.
