Hi ! I have some troubles with an onboard intel etherexpress pro 100 on an SMP FreeBSD 4.4 release machine : every 4-5 days, the kernel logs : Oct 19 11:01:07 fbsd2 /kernel: fxp0: device timeout Oct 19 11:01:07 fbsd2 /kernel: fxp0: SCB timeout: 0x60 0x0 0x0 0x0 Oct 19 11:01:07 fbsd2 /kernel: fxp0: SCB timeout: 0x6 0x0 0x0 0x0 Oct 19 11:01:07 fbsd2 /kernel: fxp0: SCB timeout: 0x40 0x0 0x0 0x0 Oct 19 11:01:07 fbsd2 /kernel: fxp0: DMA timeout Oct 19 11:01:07 fbsd2 /kernel: fxp0: SCB timeout: 0x10 0x0 0x0 0x0 Oct 19 11:01:07 fbsd2 /kernel: fxp0: DMA timeout Oct 19 11:01:07 fbsd2 /kernel: fxp0: SCB timeout: 0x10 0x0 0x0 0x0 Oct 19 11:01:07 fbsd2 /kernel: fxp0: SCB timeout: 0x10 0x0 0x0 0x0 Oct 19 11:01:09 fbsd2 /kernel: fxp0: SCB timeout: 0x1 0x0 0x0 0x0 Oct 19 11:01:09 fbsd2 /kernel: fxp0: SCB timeout: 0x81 0x0 0x0 0x0 And the machine doesn't respond to network anymore. This is really annoying. I wrote a stupid shell script that checks network connectivity and ifconfig down/up if any trouble found, but I am not satisfied with that. Is there a different driver for that kind of cards ? Should we disable the internal card and put another card instead ? What 100Mbit/s ethernet card does REALLY work with FreeBSD 4.4 ?
