>> Has anyone got this working? Yes. I have PCGA-CD51 working with 505 and Z505FX (both are japanese versions) running FreeBSD-3.2 (+PAO3). There are 2 versions of VAIO cdrom. PCGA-CD5: (comes with AC adapter) this type is known to be broken. (resetting the ATA controller also resets PCMCIA configuration; a workaround by skipping the reset line is possible but not recommended.) PCGA-CD51: (power supplied via pccard) this type works fine. The following config line works for me.
