I assume it's ok to post mate questions here as there's no dedicated mailing list (yet). Both mate-power-manager and mate-power-preferences dump core. Issue is as reported here, https://github.com/jlmess77/mate-ports/issues/11, except this with 1.8.0. Local system is 10.1-PRELEASEASE #0 r270772 amd64, This leaves me with the battery monitor of gkrellm, which doesn't indicate charging. Another problem, although a bit more generic, is that I cannot get the gkrellm-bfm plugin to work. I hacked the source suitably to get it compiled, but when I try to enable it, it dies with kvm_open: /dev/mem: Permission denied Could not open kernel virtual memory My standard repertoire of trying to work around this is exhausted - making gkrellmd/gkrellm/grellm-bfm.so suid root/guid kmem, or combinations thereof, even adding world read permissions to /dev/mem. Any suggestions?
