The boot process pauses right at this point: SMP: AP CPU #1 Launched! Several minutes nothing. Then the boot process resumes normally. Disabling the floppy controller in the BIOS makes the boot delay go away. Applying the patch from Eugene Grosbein resolved my problem.help
