The last couple make buildworld's I've done have completed successfully and
appeared to build and install fine. That is until I rebooted.
I reboot and I got this error after it tried to load syslogd.
Fatal trap 12: page fault while in kernel mode
fault virtual address = 0x79147914
fault code = supervisor write, page not present
instruction pointer = 0x8:0xc0253346
stack pointer = 0x10:0xd7eecdc8
frame pointer = 0x10:0xd7eecdf0
code segment = base 0x0, limit 0xfffff, type 0x1b
= DPL 0, pres 1, def32 1, gran 1
processor eflags = interrupt enabled, resume, IOPL = 0
current process = 96 (lpd)
interrupt mask =
trap number = 12
panic: page fault
I booted into single user and set it not to start lpd. It then did the
exact same thing with the next daemon. sshd.
Fatal trap 12: page fault while in kernel mode
fault virtual address = 0x79147914
fault code = supervisor write, page not present
instruction pointer = 0x8:0xc0253346
stack pointer = 0x10:0xd7ee7dc8
frame pointer = 0x10:0xd7ee7df0
code segment = base 0x0, limit 0xfffff, type 0x1b
= DPL 0, pres 1, def32 1, gran 1
processor eflags = interrupt enabled, resume, IOPL = 0
current process = 89 (sshd)
interrupt mask =
trap number = 12
panic: page fault
I then booted the old kernel, and everything started up without incident. I
have tested my hardware and everything checks out as per what people have
said previously on this list.
Attached is my complete dmesg output

In the simplest terms, you do not carry the familiar stench of
not-particularly-well-repressed anger, cynicism and angst that the BOsFH
recognize each other by. You have the chirpy piping voice of someone who
is not quite smart enough yet. -- Steve VanDevender
