Hi,

consumer-grade? I would take a look at the price and the recording technolog=
y.

WD Red 2TB

  Recording process  SMR=20

tml?&trstct=3Dvrt_pdn&nbc=3D1

WD Red Plus 2 TB
  Recording process   CMR=20

-p299813.html?&nbc=3D1&trstct=3Dlsbght_sldr::268461
70,- =E2=82=AC

WD Ultrastar 2TB
  Recording process   CMR =20
https://www.reichelt.de/de/en/2tb-wd-ultrastar-dc-ha210-hard-drive-wd-1w1000=
2-p247329.html?search=3Dwd&&r=3D1
118,- =E2=82=AC

In my experiences SSDs are more reliable, than HDDs. Even the slowest SSD is=
 faster, even when connected to SATA 2, than HDDs are. A SSD doesn=E2=80=98t=
 make noise.

KIOXIA EXCERIA SSD 960 GB
https://www.reichelt.de/de/en/kioxia-exceria-ssd-960-gb-ltc10z960gg8-p281903=

Samsung SSD 870 EVO Series 1TB

729.html?search=3Dsamsung+ssd&&r=3D1
103,- =E2=82=AC

I would not buy smaller than 1TB. None of my Toshiba/OCZ/KIOXIA ever failed,=
 but I replace one after the other that is smaller than 1TB, by a 1TB SSD, s=
ince I run out of space. I can=E2=80=98t comment on Samsung. FWIW I=E2=80=98=
m mainly using ext4 partitions ;). You probably will use another file system=
, maybe the same as Valeri does use. IOW get a Samsung. I suspect KIOXIA is a=
lso good when not using ext4, but you never know.

When I run out of SATA 3 ports I bought an inLine 76696B PCIe card to get tw=
o additional SATA 3 ports for a Linux host, but this and similar cards are p=
robably FreeBSD compatible, too. Today Available for 34,-=E2=82=AC, but no R=
AID.

76696b-inline.html

I fear compatibility issues when using NVMe SSDs, but that=E2=80=98s perhaps=
 just an unreasonable fear.

Regards,
Ralf

PS: All my replies to this thread were done with the MUAs of tablets. Those M=
UAs are a PITA.

PPS: Valeri, my apologies, by accident I did not reply to the list.
Fortunately it=E2=80=98s a chance to add something I forgot. If the OP shoul=
d decide to get a SSD, a SSD mounting frame is required.
