Hi all, What successes have people had with nge(4) cards on Alpha? I am currently running 5.1-RELEASE on a Cabriolet (PC-64) and even though the Netgear GA622T is a 64-bit PCI card, it is working quite happily in a 32-bit slot. I also have a PWS-500au (Miata) running 4.8-STABLE (from July 12), but so far all attempts to get the card working properly are failing. In a 64-bit slot, the card is recognised by the kernel during boot, and appears to think it's bringing the link up OK, but cannot ping across the link, and no link lights are on the switch. The switch is an unmanaged Netgear GS516T From 5.1-RELEASE- dmesg: nge0: <National Semiconductor Gigabit Ethernet> port 0x10000-0x100ff mem 0x8206c000-0x8206cfff irq 0 at device 6.0 on pci0 nge0: interrupting at APECS irq 0 nge0: Ethernet address: 00:40:f4:29:51:ef miibus0: <MII bus> on nge0 nsgphy0: <DP83861 10/100/1000 media interface> on miibus0 nsgphy0: 10baseT, 10baseT-FDX, 100baseTX, 100baseTX-FDX, 1000baseT, 1000baseT-FDX, auto aylee% ifconfig nge0: flags=8843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 options=13<RXCSUM,TXCSUM,VLAN_HWTAGGING> inet 192.168.100.31 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 192.168.100.255 ether 00:40:f4:29:51:ef media: Ethernet autoselect (1000baseTX <full-duplex>) status: active From 4.8-STABLE- dmesg: nge0: <National Semiconductor Gigabit Ethernet> port 0x10000-0x100ff mem 0x8206c000-0x8206cfff irq 0 at device 6.0 on pci0 nge0: interrupting at APECS irq 0 nge0: Ethernet address: 00:40:f4:29:51:ef miibus0: <MII bus> on nge0 nsgphy0: <DP83861 10/100/1000 media interface> on miibus0 nsgphy0: 10baseT, 10baseT-FDX, 100baseTX, 100baseTX-FDX, 1000baseT, 1000baseT-FDX, auto erwin% ifconfig nge0: flags=8843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 options=3<RXCSUM,TXCSUM> inet 192.168.100.11 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 192.168.100.255 ether 00:40:f4:29:51:ef media: Ethernet autoselect (none) status: active Cheers, rob -- Proletarian revolutions are notably ineffective when the ruling class is composed of gods.
