I suggest, strongly, that whoever attempts to mess with the tcp stack be very familiar with all the discussion that has gone on in the last few years on these sorts of problems. As a start, the end2end list (majordomo@zephyr.isi.edu, subscribe end2end-interest) and the tcp-impl list (majordomo@grc.nasa.gov, subscribe tcp-impl) and their archives will help you avoid embarassing flubs. Reinventing the wheel for freebsd, while fun, is not helpful. And of course, the BSDI folks know all about these issues. If I'm not smoking something, isn't there now a relationship?
