I'm learning many concepts that I took for granted because the marketing machine at mircosoft had convience me that I need not know the under belly of my NOS to properly administor it -- well, they're wrong!

As a C/C++ programmer, I am awaiting the day when I understand the OS enough to offer assistance in expanding its capabilities and user base in the future. I used the instructions from the tutorial section of the FreeBSD web site -- and I was successful with the configuration. My next goal was to be able to Telnet to my FreeBSD box and perform some routine get to know your NOS stuff. I can telnet there, but there is a long delay before I recieve the login prompt. I'm sure this delay is not normal, but Ic an't seem to find what's causing the delay.

This is often caused by a DNS problem. Did you setup a reverse DNS entry
for the PC you are telneting in from?
