I would say it can, cause I'm doing it right now. I got a new machine with an Intel i740 card, and found out that XFree86 didn't support it, but RedHat had a binary only server for it. I works well with a few minor problems: I can't the wheel on my mouse to work. I crashes if I try to switch to a VT.
