So this just confirms what I somehow saw above - pcm1 is input only, so for producing sound, setting hw.snd.default_unit=1 is not going to help. Also, I am not sure, but this line, from your verbose output above pcm0: Playback channel matrix is: 2.0 (disconnected) may explain why you are getting no sound. Thanks! > I think it is really easy - connect your HDMI monitor, and you should see new device in 'cat /dev/sndstat' output, probably pcm2.
