That's true in general, but people seem to be able to avoid it by
sending mails out when they're not sure/it's not their domain....

 * BTW, nothing really wrong happens when we discuss it even after change

It clutters up the log, complicates the diffs and makes the cvs
repository grow. :(

 * Should I back out this change?

I guess so.  Anyway, what was the problem?  Did it work at your place
without MOTIF_STATIC?
