I have exactly the same issue on my SSD: Samsung Electronics Co Ltd NVMe SSD
Controller SM961/PM961
The issue happened with the 12.0-CURRENT installation media, and also with =
the
system installed.

I am able to solve this issue with kern.smp.disabled=3D1, so I can boot; ho=
wever
it also disable the MultiProcessor feature (and I end up with a single core=
).
(The =E2=80=9CFail Safe=E2=80=9D option at boot includes this fix)

Hope this help!
