Look in /etc/rc.conf for the following line.. linux_enable="YES" # Linux emulation loaded at startup (or NO). You could also run /stand/sysinstall (as root), choose Configure, Startup, and then scroll down to linux and X the box. If you don't want to reboot to start the linux emulator, just type linux at the prompt and it'll start it.
