* From: Marcel Moolenaar <marcel@scc.nl> * > Then why didn't you ask me to make a repository copy? * * Because I was told that it wasn't necessary Who told you? * and I happen to agree with * that. You aren't qualified to make a decision. :) * Are we gonna have long threads on this too? :-) All this can be avoided if you just ask before committing a new port. Looking at the linux-base port, you didn't even bother running portlint on it before committing. I'll have to conclude that you aren't yet ready to commit ports to the tree. I just saw you commit linux-devel in the middle of a discussion. I (as the ports master) request you immediately stop your commits to the ports tree and submit all changes you wish to make to the -ports list. (I don't want to resort to drastic measures like this but the name of a new port's directory is about the only thing that can't be fixed after ANY initial commit -- it will get in the way of future repository copies.) When Mike Smith proposed your commit bits, I wasn't aware of the fact that you were planning to make any commits to the ports area. Otherwise I would have made sure you understand all the bits and ropes (or whatever tools you use to do stuff) around here. Sorry, I will be more careful in the future.
