> Because, sometimes getting 200 people to agree is just not possible, > and yet a decision must be made. I think you're arguing about an edge case. If just watching the arch mailing list is any indiciation, it's not like it's full of tumultuous architectural wars where nobody is agreeing and the situation is crying out for daddy to come in and settle things. The situation seems to be more one of apathy and silence, and if 200 people can't motivate themselves to start digging into the tough architectural issues then why suppose that 7 people are going to do any better? The elected members of core are hardly extra-human in their abilities or amount of available time, and when it comes to assessing these frailties they're no better or worse than the average committer. I think it's the "average committer" you need to be trying to reach with these "what is core doing about it?!" diatribes, so why not change this to "what are the committers doing about it?!" and see if you get better results? Core was never, IMHO, meant to be anything more than a group of committers with a couple of extra responsibilities. It's in committers where the real "power" and motive force lies, and if the project as a whole is failing to achieve something then it's not core you should be looking to for some magic bullet solution. - Jordan To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe cvs-all" in the body of the message
