Great work getting it working again.  Sorry for breaking things, but can you
help a little more narrowing things down?

* Drop the tbsync patch from comment 30
* Revert each of the changes one at a time, maybe just one of them is the
culprit.  Those changes together improved performance on POWER9 with Radix pmap
considerably, nearly 10%, so I'd much prefer to fix the problem than to
penalize radix.

As for ps3, can you get a screenshot or backtrace?
