A while ago we had a few people here expressing frustration with nethack (the game). Either they installed from the package and it wouldn't run, or they couldn't build the port on a system without X. A small fix for the package has been submitted, and might be avialable soon. A simpler way could be to install the port instead. In order to learn about ports (that's my excuse) I've been pulling the nethack port apart, and I think I've worked out how to make it X-less and add a few improvements for the hardware-challenged among us. There doesn't seem to be enough interest in low-tech computing to add yet another nethack port, so if you are having this problem (can't build nethack because it requires X), please let me know. If I stop responding to email you'll know it blew up in my face :-) If you have specific questions about nethack, especially where I could give a technically incorrect response, please write to me and cc: freebsd-questions@freebsd.org (not -newbies). -- Regards, -*Sue*- To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-newbies" in the body of the message
