You can install sysutils/gnomecontrolcenter and setup your URL handlers
that way.  Or, you can create a ~/.gnome/Gnome file with the following:

[URL Handlers]
ftp-show=3Dgaleon "%s"
http-show=3Dgaleon "%s"
https-show=3Dgaleon "%s"
mailto-show=3Devolution "%s"
