I just had the strange effect that while I was building world in the background suddenly I couldn't start xterms any longer since libgnumalloc.so.2.0 wasn't found. Doing a ldconfig /usr/lib /usr/lib/compat /usr/X11R6/lib /usr/local/lib manually cured the problem immediately. Could it be that when the bootstrap target is made that another ldconfig is executed which forgets about /usr/lib/compat? --Chris Christoph P. U. Kukulies kuku@gil.physik.rwth-aachen.de
