Hi all, I saw all the freebsd questions archieves.... and lot many people have reported to have problem in configuring IDE cd-rom over second IDE port. I have a system in which I am not able to configure cd-rom over second IDE port.... at boot time Kernel sees second IDE port on interrupt 15 but not able to get the cd-rom devices attached to it. But in case of first IDE port the HDD connected to it gets recognised... I have tried this with all the master/slave configuration... But if cd-rom is connected as slave on first IDE controller it works well on FreeBSD as well as on Windows 95.... While on Windows 95 wheather I connect cd-rom on first or second IDE port... it works well on both positions.... I have problem in configuring IDE cd-rom and Hard Disk on same IDE controller as this is a 16 X cd-rom drive and I do not get faster throughput if configured on the same controller as of hard disk... So I need to keep switching IDE controllers physically if I need to run FreeBSD. Can anyone help me in configuring IDE hard disk on first IDE controller and cd-rom over the second IDE controller... Thanks in advance for any positive thoughts.... Prashant.
