It doesn't It's a symlink on my system. At least one other post indicated the same. I presume this is dependant on the vintage of your sendmail setup. I've upgraded my system from an original install of 8.8.7 to sendmail 8.9.1. Is the symlink a more recent arrangement than the hard link, or is this something to do with the upgrade not changing it?
