I upgraded to -stable from 2.2.2-RELEASE. cvsup, make world, and kernel recompilation went smoothly. The only problem I'm having is these messages at startup which I think pertain to my question: What is the proper way to update /etc and /dev? The tutorial left me slightly confused.
