It's reasonably portable to POSIX-like systems.  For example, the
latest beta version (14.1.4) builds more-or-less out of the box on
Linux systems.  I say "more-or-less" just because the Makefiles are
FreeBSD-specific.  But you can build it by hand quite simply by
going into 4 subdirectories in the right order and typing "m3build"
Other than the issue of the Makefiles, there were no problems
reported for Linux.

The main difference (from a portability standpoint) between 14.1.1
and 14.1.4 is that I included the necessary bits of "libmd" in
14.1.4.  People on non-FreeBSD systems always had trouble getting
that part built before.

14.1.4 is in the BETA subdirectory at the standard distribution
points.  It's really called beta only because I had a few more
features I wanted to put in before making a full-fledged release.
