So you want to export the entire basesystem rw from the Mac mini instead of mounting /usr/src from somewhere to run "make delete-old"? If I build a world for several machines, I always mount /usr/src and /usr/o= bj on the target system and run installworld and mergemaster locally instead o= f exporting the entire FS for the basesystem rw. I use DESTDIR if I prepare a new HD for a new setup, but not to update an existing system.
