Changes in system bios CPU Speed from "Automatic" to "500Mhz"
and...  IT WORKS!! THANKS!!!!!! the system is blazing fast now!

Hmm. Is it that slow only for FreeBSD or also for Windows?

I remember that I have once modified my BIOS settings somehow and then
everything was completely fucked up, i.e. damn slow, as your one is.

could that be?
