I can see that the syncer thread is holding a vnode lock, but it's currently
idle.  So there's some lock leak related to VFS_SYNC, but after staring at the
14.3 sources for quite a while I can't see what might be going wrong.

Is it at all possible to test and reproduce the hang with a GENERIC-DEBUG
kernel?
