I was talking about the MBR partitioning scheme versus GPT. gpart can create both, and of course newfs must be used regardless. The concern is whether boot0 can recognize GPT partitions. Some of the description of them in gpart was moved to the new gptboot man page. It was more relevant there, and is explained in more detail.
