Search on "freebsd graphics drivers intel gm965" led to forums.freebsd.org =
thread which mentioned drm-kmod.  I instantly remembered doing something wi=
th this years and years ago.  Installing drm-kmod and adding kld_list=3D"i9=
15kms" to rc.conf as hinted in the install message fixed the problem.
