hah, that did the trick, thanx ;)

ps. i went back and changed 'sock' in /usr/src/contrib/ntp/ntpdate/ntpdate.c from
'-1' back to '0', recompiled, and yea changing 'sock' doesn't make any difference
(in this respect).
