I'll post a more detailed update in a few days.

I had real problems with s/r even without iwlwifi on my laptops (as I
figured out now by reasons of how I used some USB). I acquired a laptop
a few weeks back which does s/r so I can now try to figure out iwlwifi
a lot better but it'll be a few days before I'll get to it.

I am currently on travels and (as you may see) still trying to get a few
more things sorted before next week.
