The following reply was made to PR kern/119931; it has been noted by GNATS. From: "Scot Hetzel" <swhetzel@gmail.com> To: bug-followup@FreeBSD.org, paul.belair@rogers.com Cc: Subject: Re: kern/119931: [sound] No sound card detected on ASUS "K8V-X SE R2.00" Date: Thu, 24 Jan 2008 06:50:37 -0600 Have you read the FreeBSD Handbook which explains how to load the sound driver for your system? http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/multimedia.html Since you didn't tell us which sound card you have on your motherboard, I did a little googleing on the motherboard and this site: http://www.directron.com/k8vxse.html Says that your card is: Audio: ADI AD1888 SoundMAx 6-channel audio CODEC, S/PDIF out interface support And a googling of FreeBSD and AD1888 brings up PR 75860, which shows that that card has been supported since FreeBSD 5.x by using the snd_via8233 kernel module. If none of this works, post a "pciconf -vl" from your system. Scot
