Ideally, we'd solve this with a separate testbed ports cluster, so we (portmgr) could drop in the new libtool/autoconf/etc.., get everything working, then drop it in to the real system. Unfortunately, that doesn't appear to be possible right now. However, given that 4.4 is out the door, 4.5 is some time away, and 5.x is just, well, 5.x, perhaps we should lay down a specific tag in the ports tree (or a firm date) for cvsup updates, flip the switch, then go through any issues associated with the new autoconf/libtool. Sure, initially there's likely to be huge breakage in the ports/ tree, but I don't see any alternatives, and right now, time is on our side. -aDe -- Ade Lovett, Austin, TX. ade@FreeBSD.org FreeBSD: The Power to Serve http://www.FreeBSD.org/ To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe cvs-all" in the body of the message
