Let me put it this way:
We have /dev/std{in,out,err}. We also have /dev/fd/. Just how many solutions
to a problem do we need before we can consider it solved?!
Bruce is right about not adding more cruft. He may not be always right, but
I wholeheartedly agree with him on this; I'm sure most others do as well.
Remember, the question was, "Do we need to spend the effort making all
of our programs support the use of - to denote std{in,out}?"
