According to rumor, there's going to be a downloadable 3.5 version
released as the last snap of 3.x

Otherwise one can install 3.4 from 
  ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/releases/i386/3.4-RELEASE/

then use the CVSup tool to bring it up to 3-stable.
