I actually agree, I just see no reason why those few flag-waving individuals need to come exclusively from core (or as a side-effect of some sort of core mandate) at all. During our almost 9 years of history, I've seen more of those folks come from out of "nowhere" than I have seen them come from the "center" of the FreeBSD project. I think that just goes to show that the cause of flag-waving has no center.
