Hi Tony,

Aharon Robbins has come back with an "official patch" that fixes the
problem.  It has been committed in HEAD as:

	src/contrib/awk/field.c		rev	1.6
	src/contrib/awk/builtin.c	rev	1.9

As I understand the situation, the problem does not exist in RELENG_4.
