 Unfortunately, the "Workaround"  only delays the appearance of the problem,
 allowing you to restart X just a couple of times.
 
 Option "BusType" "PCI"
 
 Further delays the problem but does not solve it either.
 
 The kernel seems not to be really hung, only extremely busy, i.e you can 
 still ping
 it from outside, but not ssh onto it.
