PAO != FreeBSD.  If/when I get to it, I'll be using the PAO code as a
basis for the work, but it will be different enough in that I hope it
will contain less ifdef's and such and alot less 'workaround' code that
more often than not is not a workaround for buggy hardware, but working
around buggy workarounds. :(
