I think it paves over the real problem, but I may
need to commit it anyhow, until the real bug gets
resolved?

Anyhow, if you can confirm whether or not the patch
fixes the problem for you, that would help.
(No one has suggested an explanation for the socket
getting deref'd prematurely, although markj@ found a
bug in the krpc for code that we don't think ever gets
executed.)

If you can also post your configuration..
- Network setup, such as NIC, etc.
- nfsstat -m on a client
- NFS server config (mostly what you have in rc.conf
  and any sysctls you set to non-default values.
