fstat only shows which process opened it for regular files. For UNIX sockets it doesn't show anything. For example:
> fstat /tmp/mysql.sock
> USER     CMD          PID   FD MOUNT      INUM MODE         SZ|DV R/W NAME

Even though there are connected clients.
