I didn't use NOAOUT; I'd just run a plain make world on an Elf box with Makefile.inc1 1.20 but not rebooted yet, and built the lkms "manually" (cd /usr/src/lkm; make; make install) after seeing the commit message (which I took to mean building the lkms was safe).
