It is inappropriate to close this PR without either
(a) Making ftp(1) work as documented; or (2) Removing
the http functionality and also removing references
to it from the documentation. Users should not be
misled by the documentation into believing that
the http fetch function will work when it doesn't.

Perhaps the simplest way to make it work would
be to exec fetch(1) when a URL is detected.
