How are you downloading the CVS repository? If you've only got the src/ repository then you haven't got the right bits -- the FAQ used to be in the src/ tree, but it was pulled out in to its own repository (doc/) a year or two ago. If you have downloaded the doc/ repository then it's in doc/FAQ/. . .
