It is.  And IMHO, our GENERIC kernel should also use it instead of
specifying an explicit root device.

ASK_ROOT should be possible with all kernels, regardless of whether
they are using a generic root device (i.e., they always have to adjust
the root device to the boot device) or not.  There's no reason i could
see to prevent explicitly specified kernels to allow for a -a option.

So it's probably best as

	config kernel generic

to say there's no predefined root device.
