   I don't have a pointer to the discussion, but the outcome was that there
were problems with the driver reading larger SEEPROMs that Intel started using
on newer cards, which caused the initialization to go wrong in the driver.
It is fixed in current, 4.x-stable, and 3.x-stable as of about April 2nd.
