XF86Config is a file (mine is in /etc) that does much of the setup for the server, including setup for your monitor, video card, mouse, and keyboard. Take some time and get it right, then use the program xf86config (program name has no capitals, just the data file it creates) to set up the XF86Config file for you. If you think you have done that right, then the next time you try to start X, you'll get a lot of errors on your screen (if it fails). Send us that, we'll need more info to help you. ----------------------------+----------------------------------------------- Chuck Robey | Interests include any kind of voice or data chuckr@eng.umd.edu | communications topic, C programming, and Unix. 9120 Edmonston Ct #302 | Greenbelt, MD 20770 | I run Journey2 and n3lxx, both FreeBSD (301) 220-2114 | version 2.2 current -- and great FUN! ----------------------------+-----------------------------------------------
