Hi.
In src/UPDATING in 8.0 the following is still mentioned:
NOTE TO PEOPLE WHO THINK THAT FreeBSD 8.x IS SLOW:
FreeBSD 8.x has many debugging features turned on, in
both the kernel and userland. These features attempt to detect
incorrect use of system primitives, and encourage loud failure
But looking at the GENERIC kernel and the malloc options the debug options
are already disabled before RC1.
I hope this helps somebody to not to forget to remove these.
Ronald.
