Ok, to elaborate a little more on this..

Here's what is currently being worked on or has been completed as of
today. The goal here is to get the handbook rewritten/updated enough to
be published as a book in the 1st quarter of 2000.

The initial goal is to try to get stuff organized like the rewritten
ports chapter with three or four parts..

  1) Synopsis
  2) How to use whatever it is the chapter is about
  3) Troubleshooting
  4) Advanced Topics

That'll make it much easier for people to find what they're looking for
instead of having to wade through a bunch of other non-relevant stuff
like they do now.

Here's what's being worked on so far, at least as far as I know. If
anyone wants to step up and volunteer some time and effort to write a
missing section or update and old and crufty one, it would be
appreciated.

  o Chapter 4 - Ports collection

Total rewrite with the exception of the 'making a port' bits since
those were kept up-to-date. I committed it last week so feel free
    to review/bash/change stuff.

  o Chapter 16 - Advanced Networking

Write a YP/NIS section from scratch. This is what Bill is working
on. Please keep him in the loop on any messages (he's Cc'd) so he
knows what's going on and I don't have to yell it across the office
    to him :-)

  o Chapter 17 - Email

This is what I'm currently working on rewriting and hopefully will
have it done today or tonight. I don't have much more to do, so it
definetly won't be long until it's finished. I'll be committing
this once I test the build with it finished and have a few people
read it over to pick up any glaring mistakes.

After I'm finished with Chapter 17, I'll be starting the rewrite of
Chapter 2 - Installing FreeBSD. As you can tell from reading the above,
there's no real pattern to what's being done first, etc., because it
doesn't really matter as long as it gets done. What it comes to is, if
you're interested in helping, pick something and write it.. just be sure
to let me know so I can add it to the list and give a poke every now and
again to see how things are going.
